A beautiful holiday in Denmark , almost disrupted by a thief…

But not quite. Ha!

We came, me and my partner, from Amsterdam for our holiday in Denmark and stayed in one of the cabins at FYN Naturist Camping. What a lovely area, and lovely and friendly people. We did not much more than go to the waterfront every day for a swim, or just to relax and read or sunbathe. Then on Friday July the 30th, we went to Langeland early in the morning, came back to the campsite in the afternoon and went with books to the waterfront to read and relax. After an hour of reading I went back to the cabin. When I was there, a young man passed on the road in front of us and walked in the direction of the caravans. He was dressed but I assumed he was a visitor, so I took hardly any notice, and even said hello to him. Then I went to the toilet area and on my way back to the cabin, saw the same man walking in front of me out of the campsite carrying something in his hands. I got a bit suspicious, and looked into the parking place, where I saw the car he got into and was able to read part of the license number. Then I walked back to our cabin (the door was open as it had been all week) and saw my camera and iPhone were missing. I ran back to the parking place but the car had already gone, then ran to find my partner and screamed that somebody had stolen my camera and phone. We went down to the caravans and asked a Grete to phone the police for us, and many thanks to her for doing so. The next question was how to prevent the thief using my phone. We went online with my partner's laptop to block my SIM card, and then I remembered I had this application 'find my i-Phone' on my phone. I had installed it because I sometimes forget where my phone is in the house and by letting it ring, I can trace it. So we went online and logged in and in a few seconds we saw the place where my iPhone was on the map. We could even see it move, meaning it was in the thief's pocket or in his car. We phoned the police again and told them the details so they could log into my account and then they were able to track the thief as well. I told them the car's colour and part of its license number and we set off for Svendborg. When we arrived at the police station, the thief had already been caught! I got my belongings back, including my wallet (money still inside) which I hadn't realised had also been stolen. So a nasty story, but with a great ending. We had dinner in a restaurant in Boijden afterwards to celebrate and came back to the campsite later that night. The next morning, when we went for a swim, we heard from the other camping guests that the story had been in the Danish 10 o'clock news… The police must have been proud of their achievement… For us it was an event we will not easily forget. But what we will remember even more is the beautiful place we stayed for two weeks. FYN Naturist Camping is one of the most beautiful spots we have stayed and feels to us now like a beautiful dream - one not even a thief could spoil. We will be back.
